An intelligent machine is based on definite knowledge from data collected by the input devices and it relies upon a sophisticated computer system. The main objective of the research in signal and image processing laboratory is to study and develop efficient signal processing algorithms, computer visual simulation, and analysis of the acquired data from various input devices. In the signal processing area, the real time parallel processing and modern signal processing algorithms are main topics. In the image processing area, pattern recognition, target detection, classfication, and identification are main topics. New algorithms and signal processor development for Intelligent Transport Systems are also of interest.
