Machine/Robot Vision

Machine / Robot Vision uses modern technologies including lighting, image acquisition, image processing, image analysis, process control and softwareprogramming to replace human vision in a variety of industrial situations. Machine Vision is increasingly used to automate processes in a variety of industrial situations such as component inspection and robot guidance.

 

 

These systems can be used for component inspection, measurement & positioning and laboratory work.

Machine vision is also used for:

·         PCB inspection

·         robot guidance and positioning

 

·         detection of flaws and defects

·         print quality inspection

·         plastic moulding inspection

·         process improvement statistics

 

  Signal and Image Processing Laboratory is engaged in research on various aspects of design, development and application of machine / robot vision systems. Active areas of research include three dimensional depth estimation using focus information, object shape recognition, industrial inspection systems and 3D rendering mechanisms.
